AESOC

The Education Council is primarily supported by a group of senior officials with responsibility for school education, early childhood and higher education who meet as the Australian Education Senior Officials Committee (AESOC).

AESOC is directly responsible to Council for the execution of Education Council decisions. Specifically, AESOC is responsible for:

  • providing policy advice to Ministers in areas of national significance
  • supervising and coordinating priority work across the Council’s working group structure
  • resolving issues to the extent possible before progressing advice to Council, and
  • managing jurisdictional funding contributions for nationally agreed projects and initiatives, through the Council Secretariat.
